The game had a very big importance for third-ranked AustrianBC Vienna as it allowed them to take a leadership position. BC Vienna defeated leader Serbian Spartak at home 118-114 in double-overtime. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The hosts trailed by 6 points after three quarters before their 32-26 charge, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time and get a 0-point victory in double-overtime. BC Vienna made 44-of-54 free shots (81.5 percent) during the game, while Spartak only scored twenty four points from the stripe. BC Vienna looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. 40 personal fouls committed by Spartak helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was Slovenian Gregor Glas (197-2001) who scored 31 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. American-Guinean guard Souley Boum (190-1999, college: Xavier) chipped in 27 points and 6 assists (went 12 for 12 at the free throw line !!!). At the other side the best for losing team was Montenegrin power forward Danilo Nikolic (206-1993) who recorded 30 points and forward Luka Cerovina (201-2000) added 26 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Four BC Vienna and five Spartak players scored in double figures. Spartak's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with 3 other teams. Spartak at the other side still keeps top place with seven games lost.
